Dear Friends,
Thank you for taking the time to stop by the Ryan Powell Foundation website. My Foundation is dedicated to growing the game of lacrosse in and around the Portland, Oregon area and improving the lives of lacrosse players everywhere through scholarships and grants. I’m excited about the opportunity to use my lacrosse background to provide programs and support opportunities for kids interested in the game.
I grew up in a very small town in upstate New York. Lacrosse was a cornerstone of my childhood. Through frequent and almost obsessive participation, values such as discipline, integrity and commitment became cemented in the way I did things. Because of this development, I have been fortunate enough to reach the highest levels of lacrosse. Throughout my journey, I have never gotten tired of seeing kids who are totally amped about the game. I think everyone deserves to feel fulfilled by a sport in this way and learn those values, which is why I’ve started the Ryan Powell Foundation. I want to be able to utilize my experience to enable anyone who wants to play the game.
My dad made a sacrifice so that my brothers Casey, Mike and I could have lacrosse sticks. In honor of that sacrifice, we aim to put sticks in the hands of as many kids as we can. We’ve already started after-school lacrosse classes in neighborhoods up in North Portland and those kids have been having a blast!
